Smoking Policy

Our club has a ‘No smoking” policy in the clubrooms and around the green. Smoking is only permitted in the car parks away from the playing surrounds.

Care of the Green

Our green is our most valuable asset. Dumping, that is, the throwing of the bowl or the delivery style that drives the bowl directly down onto the green is forbidden. This causes dents in the underlay of the green leading to depressions in the surface. If you have problems with your delivery please talk
with a coach.

Etiquette

Players should be aware of the etiquette required in any match, and be sure to exercise the rights and responsibilities associated with his/her position in the
team.

    • Know what time play is scheduled to start and arrive in good time. Ensure you have a tape measure and chalk.
    • Always be ready to take your turn on the mat.
    • The bowler is entitled to ‘have possession’ of the green to watch their bowl until it comes to rest.
    • When about to deliver your bowl check that its proposed path is clear and it won’t clash with the bowl of a player playing in the opposite direction on the next rink.
    • Warn players on adjoining rinks when a player on your rink is about to play a ‘drive’ as the bowl may injure a player or disturb bowls on the adjoining rinks. Endeavour to prevent this by guarding the side boundaries.
    • When changing ends walk down the centre line of the rink.
    • All participants are reminded that our game of bowls is only a game and should be played in the best of spirits.
